The Alvarez AD60ce 12-String Shadowburst (officially classified as the AD6012CESHB) is a high-performing acoustic-electric 12-string guitar from Alvarez’s award-winning Artist Series. Designed to deliver a massive "wall of chorus shimmer" at an accessible mid-range price point, it balances the powerful projection of a classic dreadnought with a striking aesthetic and robust gig-ready electronics.

Core Tonewoods & Structural Build

• Body Shape: Full-sized Dreadnought with a smooth soft Venetian cutaway for uninhibited access to the upper frets.

• Top Wood: Solid A+ North American Sitka Spruce. Hand-selected and graded, the solid soundboard is treated with Alvarez's Advanced Tonal Response (ATR) curing process, which ages the wood to increase atmospheric stability and give it an instantly broken-in, resonant voice.

• Back & Sides Wood: Layered African Mahogany. Built using Alvarez's unique three-layer laminate technique—where the center core is also pure mahogany—it offers structural stiffness alongside a warm, punchy, and focused low-to-mid frequency response.

• Bracing System: FST2 (Forward-Shifted Type 2) Bracing. This setup features hand-scalloped X-braces shifted closer to the soundhole, giving the top more freedom to flex. This creates deep, sonorous bass registers that perfectly anchor the sparkling high-end chime of the octave strings.

• Bridge Design: Trademark Bi-Level Indian Laurel bridge. By stepping the bridge layout down, it steepens the string break angle over the genuine bone saddle. This heightens overall string tension and sustain, a vital feature for keeping 12 strings sounding clear and distinct rather than muddy.

• Neck Profile: African Mahogany neck with a classic Soft V-to-C compound profile. It provides a comfortable thickness near the nut that gradually slims out as you move toward the 14th-fret body joint, making complex 12-string chord transitions easier on the hands.

• Nut Width: A spacious 1 7/8 inches (48 mm) using a real bone nut, ensuring clean string separation so your fingers won't accidentally mute adjacent strings.
