This barely used NuX MG-30 Versatile Modeling Guitar Processor has been updated to the latest firmware, has a brand-new screen (due to an accident), and is 100% ready to rock.  NAM files, here we come.

The NUX MG-30 is a highly versatile, compact guitar modeling processor and multi-effects pedal designed for players who want professional-tier amp feel and impulse response (IR) quality without the high price tag of premium modelers. Built with robust hardware and an intuitive interface, it performs exceptionally well for live performance, home recording, and practice.

Key Technical Features

  • Dual-Processor Engine: Powered by two NXP® RT DSP processors. One processor is dedicated entirely to handling the amp modeling while the other runs the effects chain, ensuring ultra-low system latency (around 2ms) and seamless performance.
  • TSAC-HD White-Box Modeling: NUX’s proprietary modeling algorithm simulates the behavior of real analog circuits. This gives the amp models a realistic, dynamic response that cleans up well with your guitar's volume knob and reacts naturally to pick attack.
  • High-Resolution IR Support: The unit drives cabinet impulse responses at 1024-sample resolution for exceptional acoustic clarity. It features built-in "Solid Studio" cab IRs (complete with 8 microphone models and 3 mic positions), dedicated bass cabs, and acoustic guitar simulation IRs. It also supports third-party IR loading with up to 128 user slots.
  • Premium Converters: Equipped with 32-bit dual-channel AD/DA converters, providing a wide dynamic range of roughly 110dB for a transparent, studio-quality signal.

Signal Chain & Effects

The MG-30 features 11 independent, movable signal blocks (including Wah, Compressor, Gate, EFX/Drive, Amp, IR, EQ, S/R Loop, Modulation, Delay, and Reverb) with options for parallel post-effects routing to build wide, lush stereo textures.

  • Amp Models (35 Total): Includes 28 electric guitar amps, 2 acoustic amp models, and 5 dedicated bass amps. It also features advanced bias tweaking, allowing you to fine-tune the power amp emulation for extra warmth or sag.
  • Built-in Effects: Loaded with classic overdrive/distortion stomps, multi-stage modulations (chorus, flangers, phasers, rotary), various delay types (including tape, reverse, and NUX's Duotime), and high-quality reverbs.

Interface & Live Workflow

  • 4-Inch Color LCD: The bright, 800x480 resolution display features a highly visual grid layout, making it incredibly easy to navigate signal routing and tweak parameters on the fly without needing to bury your face in a manual.
  • Pro Scene Selection: Within a single preset patch, you can configure up to three distinct scenes. This lets you instantly toggle blocks on/off or change amp parameters (e.g., switching from a clean verse to a high-gain chorus lead) seamlessly with a single footswitch tap and no audio dropout.
  • External Control: The unit includes a built-in expression pedal and typically ships with an external NMP-2 LITE dual footswitch, giving you immediate hands-free control over scene switching or patch rolling.

I/O & Connectivity

The rear panel is exceptionally flexible for a compact unit:

  • 1/4" Input & Stereo Outputs: Main instrument input alongside Left/Mono and Right outputs.
  • Effects Loop (Send/Return): Allows for the 4-cable method to place your favorite external pedals directly into the MG-30's signal chain, or to run the processor straight into the power section of a physical tube amp.
  • USB-C Port: Serves as a high-quality audio interface for direct recording and features multiple routing modes (Normal, Reamp, Dry Out, and Loopback). It also connects seamlessly to the QuickTone™ desktop editor software for deeper preset management and firmware updates.
  • Aux In & Headphone Out: Dedicated 1/8" jacks for silent practice and jamming along to backing tracks.

Practice Tools

To round out its utility as a standalone workstation, the MG-30 includes an onboard 60-second phrase looper (30 seconds in stereo) and a built-in drum machine featuring 67 high-quality rhythm patterns across 11 different musical styles.
