This stunning 855ce is from a 2003 Taylor Guitars Fall Limited Series. I was moderating the Taylor Guitar forum and, while attending the NAMM show in 2003, I spent considerable time discussing guitars and wood sourcing. I told him I was ordering a fall limited-edition 800, and he asked what I wanted from that guitar. I told him I wanted tone and volume over bling. He texted the head of the wood vault and told him which set to choose for my guitar. Long story short, this guitar is too good to hang on the wall of my studio to get played every Christmas Eve.
I did have the ES1 system upgraded to the 9v preamp from the original AA system.
