This guitar has no case and has some body rash.  It will make a killer gigging guitar for someone.

The Epiphone SG Pro Left-Handed (most commonly found from its 2012–2019 run as the G-400 PRO) is a highly versatile, gig-ready instrument that brings authentic vintage SG styling to southpaw players without the Gibson price tag.

Because it features upgraded "PRO" electronics over standard entry-level models, it is a massive favorite on the used market for intermediate players or gigging guitarists looking for a reliable workhorse.

Core Specifications & Features

  • Body & Construction: Solid Mahogany body with a glued-in (set) Mahogany neck. It delivers the classic, lightweight double-cutaway design with unimpeded access to all 22 medium jumbo frets.

  • Neck Profile: Features a fast and comfortable 1960s SlimTaper™ D profile paired with a classic 24.75" scale length and a 12" fingerboard radius (Rosewood or Pau Ferro depending on the exact year).

  • The "PRO" Difference (Electronics): Unlike basic SGs, this model is loaded with Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO™ humbuckers.

    • Coil-Splitting: Both the neck and bridge volume knobs feature push/pull coil-splitting, allowing you to cut the humbuckers into single-coils for snappy, T-style or S-style tones.

  • Hardware: Equipped with a LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece for excellent sustain, usually paired with high-ratio Wilkinson® or Grover® tuners for solid tuning stability.

What to Look for When Buying Used

When evaluating a used left-handed model, keep a close eye on the following standard SG traits:

  • The Headstock Joint: SGs are notoriously prone to headstock stress fractures if dropped. Check the area just below the nut for any signs of hairline cracks or finish checking that might indicate a past break or repair.

  • Neck Dive: Because the mahogany body is so thin and light, SGs can sometimes be slightly neck-heavy when playing standing up. (A thick leather or textured fabric strap easily remedies this).

  • Electronics Wear: Because this model relies heavily on its push/pull potentiometers for coil-tapping, test both volume knobs thoroughly to ensure they pull up smoothly, don't crackle, and don't cut the signal completely out.

  • Fret Wear: Check the first 3 to 5 frets for deep grooves or pitting, especially on guitars that have seen heavy rhythm use.

Tonal Profile

With the humbuckers engaged, you get the signature warm, punchy midrange and biting crunch perfect for classic rock, blues, and hard-hitting riffs. Popping the coil-splits out thins out the sound beautifully, giving you pristine, glassy cleans that handle funk or country surprisingly well.
